Our Story
Named for Adam. Built by family.
Adam's True Value Hardware & Lumber was started by the Taffera brothers — Chris and Justin — and named in memory of their brother Adam, who passed away in 2003.

The Tafferas inside the new store on N. Main Ave.
Chris and Justin Taffera grew up in Scranton. After years of talking about it, they opened the kind of store they always wished was in the neighborhood — hardware, lumber, and lawn & garden, with people behind the counter who'll know your name on the second visit.
They named it for their brother Adam, who passed away in 2003. Adam is also the name of their nephew, who's on the floor with them — a small thing that's also a big thing.
The store sits at 500 N. Main Ave., in a building most of Scranton knew as the Rite Aid on the corner. It's now a hardware floor, paint counter, and lumber yard, run by people from the neighborhood for the neighborhood.

Why True Value
A local store with a national catalog behind it.
True Value is a co-op of independent hardware stores. That means Adam's is family-owned and run, but the shelves are backed by the buying power of thousands of stores nationwide. If we don't have it on the shelf, we can usually get it in fast.
